C

certicate programme

Certificate students are not enrolled at a university and pay the UvA per course or credit. Certificate students receive a transcript indicating the courses taken, and the credits and grades obtained.

course

Academic unit of which programmes are composed, each containing 5 or 10 EC's. Sometimes also referred to as modules.

CREA

The university's cultural organisation, offering activities at special student rates in the arts and artistic education, such as courses in drama, dance, and photography.

credits

Semesters are composed of self-contained units called courses. Credits are awarded to students who have succesfully completed a course. Most courses contain 5 or 10 EC's, in keeping with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). This way credits can easily be transferred. The equivalent of 60 ECTS credits is 30 US credits.
A full-time study programme contains 60 credits per academic year, corresponding to 1680 hours of study.

curriculum

The subjects comprising an individual's course of study.
