Visa/MVV regulations
All students who have been accepted to a programme at the University of Amsterdam can apply for a visa (MVV) using the priority procedure offered by the University, which takes approximately two months.
- EU/EEA students and students who are citizens of Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, South Korea, the USA and the Vatican City State do not need a visa (MVV) to enter the Netherlands. Information on requesting a residence permit once you are in the Netherlands can be found on www.uva.nl/visa
All other students need to apply for a visa in order to enter the Netherlands. Please note that it is not possible to apply for a visa in the Netherlands, nor is it possible to study at the University if you travel to the Netherlands on a tourist visa.
You will receive information about the application procedure with your acceptance letter. You will be asked to submit specific documents and pay the visa fee in advance. In order to receive the priority Visa in time, make sure your programme application is complete by 15 May. You must complete your visa application between 15 May and 15 June. The application must be accompanied by a payment of € 250.
