Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (IIS)
The IIS is a medium-sized educational institute within the Faculty of Science at the University of Amsterdam. It offers a diverse range of interdisciplinary educational programmes, with 1500 students per year enrolled in its Bachelor's and Master's programmes and open thematic courses.

Faculty of Science
The Faculty of Science is a leading centre of academic research and education and is home to approximately 2,000 students and 1,600 staff. The Faculty has 10 research institutes, one College of Science with 11 Bachelor's programmes and four Master's schools with 19 Master's programmes. Its curriculum includes courses in the fields of biology, chemistry, physical geography, physics, astronomy, mathematics and computer science.

Psychology Research Institute
The Psychology Research Institute within the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences is strongly oriented towards a basic empirical approach of the major themes in psychology. Research is predominantly focused on theoretical, mechanistic explanations of normal and abnormal human behaviour, on a smaller scale issues in more applied contexts are addressed.

Cognitive Science Center Amsterdam (CSCA)
The Cognitive Science Center is an interdisciplinary institute for cognition research in which a number of research institutes from the UvA participate. It comprises groups from biology, psychology, computer science, philosophy, linguistics, medical science and economics. The CSCA functions as a platform and community, which makes it unique in bringing together scientists with an interest in the acquisition, storage and usage of information, and how these processes are mediated by the brain.

The Institute for Logic, Language and Computation is a research institute of the UvA in which researchers from the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Humanities collaborate. Research within the ILLC is focused on the fundamental principles of encoding, transmission, and comprehension of information. Emphasis is on natural and formal languages, but other information carriers, such as images and music, are studied as well.

Academic Medical Center (AMC)
The Academic Medical Center completely integrates an academic hospital and a Medical Faculty into one organisation. This integration enhances the coordination of fundamental and clinical research and intensifies close cooperation between research fields. The AMC complex houses the university hospital and the medical faculty of the UvA, as well as the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience. This concentration of expertise makes the AMC ‘more than just a university hospital’ and provides fruitful scientific collaboration.
