Philosophy (MA)

The Master's programme in Philosophy familiarises students with one or more sub-areas of philosophy. Students acquire the skills to formulate, analyse and discuss philosophical problems and to formulate and present targeted research questions within a broader research plan.

Studying Philosophy at the University of Amsterdam

The University of Amsterdam's Master's programme in Philosophy is the most inclusive of its kind in the Netherlands. It covers a wide range of topics and perspectives, and has a strong international focus. Both Anglo-Saxon philosophy and Continental philosophy are studied.

The quality of this master's programme has been positively assessed by the Accreditation Organisation of The Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO) under the Dutch name of Wijsbegeerte (Philosophy).
