The Master's programme in Forensic Science is designed to train students to become researchers with a thorough knowledge of forensics. Graduates are therefore encouraged to pursue PhD study.

Alternatively, a Master of Science in Forensic Science qualifies graduates for careers in research at forensic institutes or forensic investigation agencies both within and outside the Netherlands, as well as at the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), the National Institute for Public Health and Environment (RIVM) or with the police force. Insurance companies, courts and ministries are also expected to have an increasing need for forensic science expertise.

Graduates can also continue to careers in related fields such as environmental research, investigative research, and quality control for food authorities.
