The Master of Science in Economics has a strong international emphasis and offers a wide range of specialisations ranging from theoretical to applied.

Students in the programme can choose between a degree programme in general economics or in a specialised field of economics. The following areas of specialisation are offered:

  • Industrial Organisation, Regulation and Competition Policy

Studying Economics at the University of Amsterdam

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) specialises in providing students with the broad range of skills, in-depth knowledge and international expertise that they will need in the business world and public sector alike. Many of the lecturers in the Master of Economics are researchers and part of the 10 interdisciplinary research programmes dealing with economics, econometrics, operations research and actuarial science, including History & Methodology of Economics, Experimental & Political Economics and Industrial Economics, Competition & Antitrust

Accreditation and degree

The Master's programme in Economics has been legally accredited by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO). This means that upon successful completion of the programme, students will receive a legally accredited Master's degree in Economics and the title of Master of Science (MSc).
