Fees exchange programmes

Tuition fee

The Universiteit van Amsterdam does not charge tuition fees to exchange students. Those participating in an exchange programme continue paying their tuition fee (if applicable) to their home university.

Additional costs

Apart from the tuition fee, there are costs for books and other study materials. These costs vary per study programme between approximately €200 and €600 per year.

Furthermore students have to take into account extra costs for accommodation and travelling to Amsterdam. For Erasmus / Socrates programmes there are EU grants available to cover (part of) these expenses.

No exchange programme?

If you cannot participate in an exchange programme and still wish to study for a period of time at the UvA (without seeking a UvA degree), it may be possible to participate in a so-called certificate programme. Tuition fees for these cerficate programmes vary from approximately €2,000 to €4,000 per semester (30 European credits).
