Application fee

- only for students with qualifications from outside the EEA -

Prospective students who have obtained their diploma outside the European Economic Area need to pay an application fee of €100 if they wish to apply for a programme taught in Dutch.

Students who have obtained their diploma from a country that is a candidate for European Union membership are exempted from paying the application fee of €100 (follow the link below for an overview of these countries). Students from Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles are exempted as well.

Note that applicants who are admitted and registered as a student of the Universiteit van Amsterdam can ask for a refund of the application fee.

How to pay

- Do not pay the application fee before receiving your application number! -

After you have filled out the application form, you will receive an application number. You need this application number in order to pay the application fee. Please follow the steps below.

Payment of the application fee of  €100 must be made by remitting the amount to:

  • ABNAMRO bank,  48 91 49 812
    The Netherlands
    In favour of: UvA-BDU Studentenservices

Please make sure to state the following information on the bank transfer at all times:

  • your full name
  • your date of birth
  • your application number

If you do not have a Dutch bank account you need to mention an international bank code:

  • for payments from within the EEA:
    Swift code: ABNANL2A
  • for payments from outside the EEA:
    IBAN number: NL55 ABNA 0489 1498 12

Payments must be made without charges to the beneficiary.

We recommend you check your bank drafts afterwards for errors. Do not send cheques or money to the bank or to the Universiteit van Amsterdam. We only accept payment of the application fee as mentioned above.

Applicants for regular Dutch taught study programmes have to meet with other requirements as well. Please read all the information below carefully.
