Application for exchange students

Social Sciences

All incoming exchange students in the framework of the exchange programmes in the field of social sciences are placed in the Undergraduate Certificate Programme in Social Sciences. Only in specific cases there are exchange agreements with  Master Programmes of the Graduate School of Social Sciences. These students are able to take courses from the specific programmes but are administered through the UCP Programme first.

Application procedure 2012-13

As of March 2012 we welcome applications from exchange students through the online procedure.

Step 1: Apply online using the relevant link below. First read the instructions on the online form and prepare the necessary documents. Then submit your online application before the given deadline.

Application deadlines:

  • First semester/full year: May 1st
  • Second semester: September 1st

Step 2: Print the online applicationform and have it signed by your exchange co-ordinator. Then send the applicationform with the official (intermediate) transcripts  within 2 weeks after the online application to:

Only after receipt of your orginal signed application including official transcripts your application will be final.

Please note: All (complete) applications are handled individually by the Admissions Committee of the Undergraduate Certificate Programme in Social Sciences. It is the Admissions Commitee that accepts students in the programme. All partner universities have been informed on our entrance requirements.

Entrance requirements:

  • Having completed 120 EC (90 EC for Geography and Planning dept. only) with a C average (ECTS system) in a relevant discipline before starting in the UCP
  • English language test : TOEFL (minimum score: 230 computer test, 570 paper test,  88 internet test), IELTS (minimum score 6.5) or Cambridge Examination scores (minimum scores: CAE C, CPE C)  sent directly by the testing organization to the Universiteit van Amsterdam (TOEFL reporting number = 9678)

Only native speakers are exempted from the English language test requirement.

Step 3: if applicable: Make sure the testing organisation of your English language test (TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge) sends your test report directly to us. In most cases you will be asked to arrange for more recent transcripts before the start of the programme.
