Undergraduate Certificate Programme in Social Sciences

As of September 2011 the former Undergraduate Certificate Programme in Humanities and Social Sciences is called the Undergraduate Certificate Programme in Social Sciences. This is  an interdisciplinary non-degree undergraduate programme for exchange students.

Fields of Study

The Undergraduate Certificate Programme in Social Sciences introduces students to the following fields:

  • Communication and Media
  • Conflict, Cultural Diversity and the Law
  • Development and Planning
  • Dutch Society and Culture
  • Ethnicity, Migration and Nationalism
  • Gender, Sexuality and Society
  • International Relations and Globalisation
  • Politics, Governance and Democracy
  • Society, Culture and Modernity

Students in Communication Science are recommended to take courses from the cluster Communication and Media, but courses of other clusters might be of interest as well. Students can also choose one or two courses from the Undergraduate Certificate Programme in Humanities, offered by the Faculty of Humanities.

Student profile

The Undergraduate Certificate Programme in Social Sciences is for international exchange students. Students should have at least two years of academic background in relevant fields.

Start and duration

The Undergraduate Certificate Programme in Social Sciences starts in September and in February. Students can study at the College of Social Sciences for a period of one or two semesters.

Transcript

All students in the Undergraduate Certificate Programme in Social Sciences receive a transcript upon request stating the courses they have registered for and the credits and grades obtained for these courses.

Undergraduate Certificate Programme in Law, Culture and Society

The College of Social Sciences also offers an Undergraduate Certificate Programme in Law, Society and Culture. This programme is also open for exchange students.  The programme consists of the courses of the cluster Confict, Cultural Diversity and the Law and the obligatory seminar. Organising Institutes

This programme of advanced undergraduate courses in English is offered by the College of Social Sciences in co-operation with the College of Communication, and the Faculty of  Humanities
