Study centres

Students have free access to computers located in a number of study centres in the centre of Amsterdam. Each student receives a user name and password so that they can log on to any computer.

Each computer has a 17-inch colour monitor, a CD-ROM drive, Windows 2000 (at Binnengasthuis also  Windows XP), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint), SPSS, Internet Explorer, FTP, Telnet, HTML Editor.

At a small charge, students can print documents on a laser printer, and have texts and illustrations scanned at the desk.

Every student receives an UvA email address with a 25 MB capacity.

Software and courses

Software is available to students at reduced prices.

The UvA also offers courses on the Internet (online research, email, web page creation), word processing, spreadsheets, databases and statistical programs (SPSS) at special student rates.
