Faculty of Economics and Business

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) was established in 1922, starting with 111 students. It now has around 5,000 students of which nearly 700 are international students. Internationalisation is a keyword at the FEB. The staff, student body, degree programmes and research all have a strong international focus.

The modern faculty building is situated in the so-called Roeterseiland (island) area. This lively area in the eastern part of the city center is surrounded by water and can easily be reached by public transport. In its surroundings there are numerous trendy bars and fancy restaurants and some famous spots like the Amsterdam zoo and the Tropenmuseum. For study-related matters you can refer to a large bookstore and a copyshop.

ISC members

Student associations

International Student Committee
The International Student Committe (ISC) is a committee run by current students of the bachelor programme. They organize social events for all students from the bachelor programme, like a boattour, drinks and a food party. Moreover, it focuses on helping first-years adjust to UvA and Amsterdam through a mentor system. You can contact the students of this commitee through the Facebook page of the University of Amsterdam (see link below).

International Student Network Amsterdam (ISN)
ISN is an organisation run by Dutch students for international students studying in Amsterdam. Their goal is to optimize the social-cultural integration of international  students in Dutch society. They organize activities for students, provide information on housing and work, run a coach system and  publish a magazine with ins and outs of (student) life in Amsterdam. At the beginning of the academic year they provide an introduction period which is a great opportunity to get to know fellow international students, Dutch students and the city of Amsterdam.

The faculty owns a large computerroom with 250 computers accessible for students of the UvA. This facility that is now totally generated by wind and solar energy was opened by the Minister for the Environment in October 2009. All students get their own free e-mail account. The account is used for all study-related communications. Wireless internet connection is available in the faculty buildings.

Library

Library

The faculty is provided with a large library with two floors. The library offers many possibilities to study or to read in a quiet surrounding.

Faculty's restaurant

Restaurant and bar

The large Faculty's restaurant offers a wide range of sandwiches, salades, fruits and soups. Every day between 5 and 7 pm several warm dishes are served against favorable prices.

Last year the faculty has opened its restyled bar where students comfortably can have a seat for a drink in a nice atmosphere. In summer there is a terrace outside.
